Quentin Dalaiden

I am currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship at the Nansen Center Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center (NERSC), Bergen, Norway.
My main research topic focuses on the understanding of the historical climate changes. For doing so, my research relies on various sources of information, from paleoclimate records (e.g., ice cores, tree rings, corals, etc) to climate model simulations. I combine them using data assimilation methods that makes use of the maximum potential of observations and the physics of the climate to provide a complete reconstruction of the climate state over the present and past.
The main goal of my work is to quantify the contributions of both natural and human-induced variability to observed climate changes, with a particular focus on multi-decadal variability and the polar regions. In addition to using data assimilation methods, I also perform simulations with Earth system models, including ocean models.
In my free time, I love practising outdoor endurance activities (cycling, triathlon, running, mountain hiking) and reading books on society.
